Sometimes the data we would like to see as part of an event is not available at the time it is created. We may need to populate some of the properties of the event from an external source. This is called enrichment of the event. Because of its flexible datasource framework, RapidOSS can enrich events from various sources such as files, databases, etc.

Netcool Event Enrichment explains this concept within a IBM/Netcool integration context but the approach is readily available to any other implementation. This document demonstrates how the properties of events in Netcool are updated from supplemental data in a MYSQL database.
