RapidOSS Smarts Plugin Overview

EMC/Smarts is a suite of IT operations management solutions widely used by service providers and large enterprises, particularly known with its automated root-cause analysis functionality. RapidOSS tightly integrates with EMC/Smarts family of products through its APIs.

RapidOSS Smarts plugin provides out-of-the-box, high quality API level integration with EMC/Smarts servers. With the addition of Smarts plugin, RapidOSS provides an innovative web based interface to work with wealth of management information provided by the Smarts solution.

Web Based User Interface for Smarts

RapidOSS provides a native web based (AJAX) user interface (no Java or ActiveX plugins required) for EMC/Smarts, specifically designed to cope with the most common challenges in implementing EMC/Smarts based management systems.

Enrichment of Smarts Notifications

RapidOSS provides easy access to management data that may be available in other systems, in-house databases, etc. which makes RapidOSS an ideal solution to enrich notifications and topology objects with data from external systems.

RapidOSS provides a powerful standard scripting language (groovy) to work with Smarts notifications, without having to learn the Smarts APIs, or the external systems.For example, user defined properties of Smarts notifications can be populated with data from a relational database with minimal effort.

Integrating Events from 3rd Party Management Systems

RapidOSS provides a very high level interface to Smarts, making it possible to create/clear notifications using a single method call. RapidOSS is ideal to integrate events streams from other managements systems using standard connectors (File, Socket, Database, SNMP, etc.).

Exporting Smarts data

RapidOSS can be used to export data to external systems and databases. RapidOSS exposes the notifications and topology objects from Smarts servers through standard interfaces, making it possible to access over web services, etc.
